Chassis

Subframe Connectors

There were some things that I did to the chassis early on in the build up of car #1 that I wanted to change but due to the work required I never did. On of the first modifications I ever made were KennyBrown subframe connectors. While these were OK subframe connectors they were quite thin and not enough really for a dedicated road race car. I found out just how inadequate they were when I installed my MaximumMotorsports torque arm, before I could weld in the torque arm I had to reinforce the KB subs with some extra steel. This extra subframe connector let them hand down quite low, so low that I have been unable to run side exhaust and instead settled for dumped mufflers. For Car #2 I will be installing 2x3x.120 custom in-floor subframe connectors similar to the Griggs in-floor subframe connectors. Since I will be keeping the torque arm I will have to drop the subframe connector down about mid way to have something to weld the front torque arm mount to.

Seam Welding

I started seam welding Car #1, since it was mostly together I wasn't able to seam weld as much as I would have liked. For Car #2 while it is stripped down to a bare chassis I will seam weld as much as possible.
